Japanese Genmaicha Tea
Genmaicha tea is a popular inexpensive, everyday japanese green tea especially for the kids which they love to drink after school.
A good genmaicha has a nice balance of properly popped rice and the green tea leaves roasted "just enough". It is a mixture of bancha or medium quality japanese green tea, popped con, and toasted, hulled rice kernels.
It has a toasty flavor which I love the most and the aroma is so inviting and indeed, an excellent choice for starting your green tea adventure. I don't think you'll turn away from the flavorful aroma of this japanese green tea.
Good news for tea novice - it's hard to make a bad cup of genmaicha tea. You'll never go wrong with genmaicha . This is actually the tea I drink most of the time up to this time because of mainly the taste.
This is a nutty, simple drink that tastes quite wonderful with typical Japanese foods. Or, it is so versatile that you can match this tea with any types of food from what I have experienced. I've tried it with Chinese food, Italian food, Mediterranean food, even thai food!
It is an inexpensive, everyday drink that is fun, flavorful, and satisfying.
Brewing Genmaicha Tea

1) Boil water between 190 degrees to 210 degrees Farhenheit. This temperature is unusually hot for green tea (and please be very careful and keep children away while boiling water for your tea), but this level is necessary to bring out the flavor of the brown rice.
2) Measure about 3 heaping teaspoons of Genmaicha into a mug.
3) Set the timer for 2 minutes.
4) When the timer sounds, place a strainer over another mug and pour the contents of the first mug into the second mug.
5) Remove the strainer and wait for few minutes until it's cools down for you to drink.
