Allergic Reactions
Did you know that Allergic reactions can be very fatal and extremely serious? It can happen immediately before you knew it you are already having one. The cause of this reaction is the substance called allergen. What is an allergen? Allergen is also called antigen; it is any substance that is frequently inhaled or being eaten. Sensitivities vary from one person to another and it is possible to be allergic to an extraordinary range of substances.Dogs, cats, bee stings, dust, dust mites, trees, weeds, molds, and foods, such as nuts, strawberries, and shellfish are some of common allergens that trigger symptoms. There are foods such as peanuts, nuts, seafood and shellfish which can cause serious allergies in a lot of people. Skin rashes, hives, itching, sneezing, or watery eyes are the common reactions which usually start to occur in a split second when exposed to these allergens and most often lead from mild to moderate reactions. Difficulty in breathing, swelling of tongue, wheezing, nausea/vomiting, abdominal pain, chest pain or tightness, and unconsciousness are some of the moderate to severe conditions. An extremely serious form of an allergic reaction, which can kill in mere minutes, is called anaphylaxis.
Majority of these reactions occurs rapidly while others can begin in a few hours, and some does not happen after twenty-four hours from exposure with the allergens. If given enough repeated contact the human body must learn to fight the allergen, a few bodies learn slower and will appear to be "immune". You can also try drinking a cup of green tea six to eight times a day. Green tea will help you boost the immune system of your body. There are varieties of green tea to choose from; there’s organic green tea, Chinese green tea & Japanese green tea. In most cases of environmental and pet allergies, simply taking an antihistamine and/or a decongestant can be an aid, while others may also require immunotherapy and asthma treatment. Some individuals irregardless of age take Epi-Pen as their savior against sudden allergic reactions. They make sure they carry it with them anywhere they go. The Epi-Pen comes in a pre-filled syringe ready for emergency administration which contains epinephrine. Using an Epi-Pen is very easy; just simply pull off the needle guard and then inject it into a large muscle part such as your thigh. It can be injected having your clothes on so it enables you to administer treatment immediately. But still it is very much important to observe and monitor the person even after the allergic reaction. In case the use of Epi-Pen doesn’t work, rush the person to the nearest hospital. Knowing what causes allergic reaction and how to deal with it is very much important. Some may say that these are only simple allergies not knowing that it can be severe and may cause their lives.
