Acid Reflux

Commonly known as 'heart burn', acid reflux disease is annoying and painful.

When heartburn becomes what is called an acid reflux it becomes a real problem. With GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease, the acid is stronger and stays in the esophagus longer causing more discomfort to an individual.

What happens here is that the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates into the esophagus.

This condition occurs during daytime and in such positions where you require to be in such as in sitting or upright position. The way your body handles this problem is that during daytime you swallow more draining the acid back to where it belongs. Your saliva also contains bicarbonate that acts as neutralizer.

You may have a greater problem at night when this disease occurs. Gravity does not work as well when you're lying down, you don't swallow as much, and your saliva is not produced greatly.

If you are pregnant, this can be a very serious problem. The elevated hormone levels lowers the pressure in your lower esophageal sphincter. Also, the growing baby puts more pressure on the abdomen.

Minor symptoms of acid reflux disease include heartburn, regurgitation, and nausea.

Some positions can help with this problem. Position yourself in a way that raises your chest up. This position uses gravity to help bring the acid back down more easily.

You also need to eat earlier and eat less to keep the stomach from being too full. Avoid coffee, soda or alcoholic beverages, instead drink japanese green tea or chinese green tea every morning, before, during and after meals and throughout the day to maximize the health benefits of green tea.

Green tea, surprisingly, helps with digestive system. It helps regulate or brings back the balance of gastric juices in your stomach.

Green tea does not only regulates your digestive system, it also helps prevent diseases from occurring such as heart disease, cancer, high cholesterol, yeast infection, urinary tract infection, and a whole lot more.
